Job Title: Staffing Coordinator
Location: 171 Ashley Avenue Charleston, SC 29425
Duration: 3+ months

POSITION TYPE: 100% Onsite

SCHEDULE: Day Shift (7:00 AM 7:30 PM), Weekends Required (up to 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period based on operational needs), and Holiday Flexibility Required as Needed.

IMPORTANT CALL OUTS

• Candidates must be committed to working the assigned shift, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• This is a **high-volume, call center-based staffing coordination role** supporting hospital operations.
• Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where answering incoming operational calls and making real-time staffing decisions are critical responsibilities.
• No competing employment, PRN commitments, or scheduling restrictions.
• Must have **true hospital staffing operations and/or centralized staffing experience** in an inpatient hospital environment.
• Candidates with LTAC, rehab, outpatient clinic, home health, patient scheduling, front desk, admissions, or administrative scheduling backgrounds are generally **not** being considered unless they also have hospital-based centralized staffing experience.
• Candidates must be able to learn quickly and work independently with minimal orientation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate and allocate nursing and ancillary staff across inpatient hospital units
• Answer incoming staffing requests and operational phone calls in a high-volume call center environment
• Manage real-time staffing adjustments, call-outs, shift coverage, and staffing shortages
• Conduct staffing evaluations and adjust assignments based on patient census and operational needs
• Collaborate with Hospital Supervisors, Charge Nurses, and department leadership
• Participate in staffing huddles and operational planning meetings
• Develop staffing plans for upcoming shifts
• Allocate incoming staffing resources based on patient care priorities
• Respond to admissions, discharges, staffing changes, and patient safety needs
• Utilize workforce scheduling systems to manage staffing assignments and workforce availability
• Support patient throughput and operational efficiency through effective staffing decisions
• Maintain professional communication across multiple departments while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced hospital environment

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate's Degree preferred
• Bachelor's Degree a plus

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2 years of healthcare staffing coordination experience
• 3 5+ years strongly preferred
• Experience in a:
• Hospital Staffing Office
• Centralized Staffing Office
• Resource Management Center (RMC)
• Float Pool
• Bed Management
• House Supervisor Support
• Similar inpatient staffing environment
• Experience handling:
• Real-time staffing decisions
• Call-outs
• Shift coverage
• Staffing shortages
• Workforce allocation
• Experience supporting nursing operations and inpatient staffing functions
• Familiarity with:
• Staffing ratios
• Patient census
• Acuity-based staffing

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Scheduling systems and workforce management platforms
• Smart Square, Kronos, UKG, or similar workforce scheduling systems preferred
• Epic experience preferred
• Microsoft Office Suite

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service and phone etiquette
• Comfortable working in a high-volume call center environment
• Ability to prioritize multiple incoming requests simultaneously
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment
• Professional communication with nursing leadership, charge nurses, hospital supervisors, and clinical staff
• Ability to ramp quickly with minimal training
• Strong interview presence and willingness to support operational needs
